For this project, we were assigned to create a geometric abstraction using Adobe Illustrator. Geometric abstraction is a technique that uses geometric shapes like triangles, polygons, and other angular forms to construct an image. Instead of smooth lines and shading, the composition is built with flat, faceted surfaces, resulting in a stylized, abstract look.

I began by selecting a well-lit portrait of myself with a strong composition. After importing the image into Illustrator, I used the Pen Tool to outline different areas of the face, forming geometric shapes. Once the shapes were completed, I applied the Eyedropper Tool to select fill colors directly from the original photo. For the background, I chose a color that complemented the portrait and added a radial gradient to create a focal point, drawing attention to the illustration.

Throughout this project, I learned how to create a geometric illustration and discovered useful shortcuts, such as Shift + X, which quickly switches between stroke and fill—helping streamline my workflow.
